About us
Our concept
After having worked in tourism for a decade or more, we see that
even in a small country like Norway, mass tourism is unfortunately
taking over the scene. We genuinly love our country and have a very
strong desire to show what we consider to be the real Norway to our
guests, away from the crowds and the well-run tourist machines. We are
locals, we invite you on board as our friends and we
take you to our favourite places. We have decided to take a maximum of
18 people on board, so that everyone has the space necessary to enjoy a
private and personal experience. We only have a limited number of
departures during the summer, which hopefully means that this cruise
will be a rare and special experience for those who take part. We have
aimed to present as accurate an image as possible of this cruise, and
all the photos you can see on our website are photos taken by ourselves
or by friends. These are the
very images you will see and be able to capture on film.
We are looking forward to having you onboard and sharing this
wonderful experience with you.
Who are we?
Christine Gaffney: Co-owner of Fjord Venture Norway and in charge of
booking. She is also the regular guide on board. She speaks fluently
English, French and Spanish. Christine is a certified travel consultant
with a degree from Ecole Nationale de Commerce, Paris, France. She has
worked in the tourist industry since 1995 and has gained part of her
experience from working in travel agencies, hotels and restaurants. She
has been working as a guide for 10 years and became an Authorized Bergen
Guide in 2001. She has since worked in Bergen and Western Norway as a
guide for groups as well as a private driver/guide for individuals, and
for the last 5 years as a guide on board "MS Tollesund" in the fjord
region. In addition to this, Christine is interested in travelling,
history, geography and human relations, and has done humanitarian work
in Latin America.
Einar Losnegård: Co-owner of Fjord Venture Norway, and owner and captain
of "MS Tollesund". He speaks basic English and was only 15 years old
when he started working on a ship; this has enabled him to travel around
the world. He is a certified ship's mechanic and has worked as a
fisherman on the Norwegian coast for 3 years. He has also worked in
maritime tourism for the last 15 years and has owned and run his own
boat for 20 years. With his profound knowledge of the region, we are
able to explore hidden areas of the archipelago on the west coast. Einar
lives with his family on a farm on an island neighbouring Utvaer. |
