Practical and important information
Weather and terrain - The summer temperature on the west coast
of Norway generally varies between 18 - 27 Celsius / 64 - 81 Fahrenheit,
but may also go higher, especially in "natural ovens" like Findebotten.
Because of the Gulf Stream, the water generally has a temperature of 16
- 20 Celsius / 61 - 68 Fahrenheit, so bring your swimwear, just in case. It may get windy on the coast, and at times when in open,
unprotected areas, we may experience slightly rough sea. This will only
be for a very short distance, and it is extremely rare to get sea sick
in the fjords. We generally experience calm and sunny days in the
summer, maybe a rain shower now and then, but you have to be prepared
for anything when travelling in Norway. Bring sun tan lotion, the sea
reflects the sun, even on a cloudy day! On land, the terrain is a little
uneven, and people with major walking difficulties might find it
challenging.

Clothing - Bring warm and wind & waterproof clothing! Although
it is summer it can get quite cool and windy,
especially being outside on a moving boat. A hat (with a string) and
even gloves are also recommended, and if you have a light rain coat you may
bring it. The weather may change rather suddenly, and in order to pack the right
clothes, check the weather forecast before you leave home. Bring solid
hiking shoes if you wish to go hiking at Findebotten farm. Meals
- All the food is prepared with local and mainly organic produce. Delicious fish caught the same morning will be served both days
at lunch (if shellfish, it will be prepared and served separately from
the fish), meat will be served for dinner in the evening. If you have
any allergies, it is important that you inform us in advance. Once the
cruise has started, we cannot change anything in the menu.
Luggage on board - Try to keep your luggage as light and
managable as possible, for everyone's comfort on board. Whether you go
back to Bergen after the cruise or you continue your journey from
Balestrand, please take hand baggage for the overnight at Findebotten farm.
Then your big luggage, if you need to bring it on the cruise, can stay safely on board.
Tipping - A tip is never expected in Norway, so this is
entirely up to you. |
